He hits the nail on the head when he mentions that everything we see, hear, smell, etc. is shaped by our perception. Whether we try to not be biased at all, there is always going to be an underlying bias that we cannot control. All of our experiences and memories and opinions shape how we might see things. We see numbers as how we are taught to see them in grade school. Tammit is able to see these numbers as other forms, such as shapes. In some cases, it can make it easier to memories numbers or solve calculations. Picturing them as a visual puzzle rather than a math equation, they might be easier to work out in our head, such as when he solved the equation: 64x75. We have all been raised and trained to see things as the same way. Imagine if we learned numbers the same way that Tammit sees them? I cannot even begin to think about how different the world would be today. I think it also really interesting to note the whole concept of synesthesia as well. Being able to mix up senses enable the human brain to absorb and create an entirely new way of thinking. I have read "Lolita" and now that I know that Nabakov has synesthesia, it really explains his writing style. The prose of the book is unlike any other ever written. He is able to form sentences and describe things in such a unique way, it is utterly addicting to read. Not to mention that he is Russian but wrote the book in English. Being able to watch movies with synesthesia would change my perspective on everything. Being able to hear colors or taste sounds would completely change the viewing experience. It would also be amazing to create a movie specifically for someone who has synesthesia. It would be a viewing experience unlike any other.
